There are a few things to be said about the contents of this article if indeed the contents are true. The fact that the Lee Siblings have been at logger heads over the late Lee Kuan Yews will (Will) and his wishes about the Oxley road home requires no rebuttal.

The fact of the Will and its validity though is the subject of contention ana reason why the younger Lee, Hsieng Yang and his wife Suet Fern will not return to Singapore. Suet Fern is a lawyer of repute and a member of one of the larger British international law firms. Surely she ought to have known of the likely impact and possible challenges that would arise if she had anything to do with drafting or witnessing the Will. She is through her marriage to Hsien Yang and through their children n indirect beneficiary of the Will. Yet she took instructions it is reported on the Will. The witness beneficiary rule is universal throughout commonwealth and comon law countries. She ought to have known of that prolem and distanced herself from any aspect of the Will. This is if all thats on the public record and reported about the Will are true.

Putting this to one side, the preservation or destruction of the Oxley road house even though part of the Will is not something that Lee Kuan Yew can control when faced with the decision of a sovereign state. Hsien Loong would have had the ultimate say in that matter even if it meant disregarding his late father's wshes in regard to the house. It deprives none of the beneficiaries under the Will of any entitlement under the will. It becomes a state matter and not one the beneficiaries are able to challenge.

The battle between Hsien Loong and his brother Hsien Yang is nothing more than sibling rivalry and one which Hsien Yang has no traction nor the ability to do anything about now considering the issues following the demise of their sister.
